Wilton Continues To Support Bermuda Charities
Wilton Reinsurance Bermuda Limited has donated to another two Bermuda charities, with each charity nominated to receive support by the employees of Wilton Re Bermuda.
Sylvia Oliveira, CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda said, “Wilton Re Bermuda remains dedicated to our community and the principle of giving our time and financial support. These two charities have personally impacted members of our team, who have chosen to direct our corporate donations to support the worthy missions of BEN and the Women’s Resource Centre this year.”
Wilton Re Bermuda has donated to support the following charities:
- Women’s Resource Centre of Bermuda [WRC] provides essential support and resources to help women thrive and contribute to a stronger community. The organisation has a mandate to empower women and build resilience through prevention, education, advocacy, awareness, and a broad range of support services. Juanae Crockwell, Executive Director, expressed sincere gratitude to be the recipient of Wilton’s donation, noting that it was used towards operational expenses.
- Bermuda Education Network [BEN] seeks to build a professional learning community that increases the services and opportunities for public school students to address the achievement gap between public and private school systems. While focusing on educators within the system and deepening connections throughout the teaching community, the BEN creates opportunities for teachers to develop their leadership skills and expanding their repertoire for curriculum enhancement and confidence. Rebecca Ausenda, Executive Director of the BEN said, “Wilton Re is a key partner for BEN and we are grateful that they share our commitment to supporting educators and students in the public schools! In 2024, Wilton Re’s generous donation helped BEN to achieve our mission of creating more opportunities and services, allowing us to work more closely with teachers in the system who are responsible for reading instruction. Wilton Re supported the creation of new engaging themed units to enrich the social studies and science curriculum while also enhancing literacy. In 2024 we were able to provide over 2500 such learning experiences with our partner organisations, the historical societies in St. George’s and St. David’s, Agra Living Institute, Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation, Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute and the Bermuda Zoological Society.”
Brendan Kemp, CFO of Wilton Re Bermuda said, “Our firm’s and our Bermuda based staff’s philanthropic commitment to help improve the lives of all Bermudians is seen as a crucial responsibility to the community. We are very proud to be able to continue with our support of both the Bermuda Education Network and the Women’s Resource Centre.”
