Celebrating Early Childhood Event On Sept 8th
The Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda will be hosting an event focusing on early childhood education on Sunday, September 8th at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall.
A spokesperson said, “The Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda is hosting a celebratory event focusing on early childhood education. The Celebrating Early Childhood event will be held on Sunday 8th September 2024 at the Earl Cameron Theatre, City Hall, Hamilton, from 1.00pm to 6.00pm.
“The theme ‘How do We Re-envision Early Childhood’ will include the following:
- The History of Early Childhood Education in Bermuda
- The launch of the Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda
- Keynote Speaker: Mrs. Leah Dean
- Celebrating those who have contributed to Early Childhood in Bermuda
“The event is geared towards daycare providers, daycare centers and staff, preschool teachers, parents, and community members committed to Bermuda’s next generation. The ticket price for the event is $60, which includes a cocktail reception immediately following.
“Come and join us for an exciting afternoon of information, inspiration, and fellowship for the early childhood sector.

The keynote speaker for the celebration is internationally renowned author Mrs. Leah Dean whose topic is “Better Together: Why Every Early Childhood Professional Needs a Tribe.”

Find Belonging.” Be Different and is the Founder of The Tribe Advantage, a leadership program for women. As a former HR executive, Leah shares strategies to help organizations, leaders, and women unleash their potential and create more inclusive cultures where people can belong, and experience belonging while achieving exceptional results.
“Penny Saltus is the founder and executive director of the Early Childhood Foundation of Bermuda [formally Union Square Productions]. Ms. Saltus has a B.A. in Child Development, a Certificate in Non-profit Management, and recently received her Certified Non-profit credential. She has been an Early Childhood practitioner for over 25 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.
“In response to the Zero to Three in Bermuda Report 2015 which stated, ‘One of the five critical gaps identified that limit the opportunity to shape the early experiences of children in Bermuda is information and education [crucial] to increase public awareness of the significance of Early Childhood Development,’ Penny hosted the first Early Childhood Symposium in 2017 at the Bermuda College.
“The next Symposium was held two years later in 2019 at Rosewood Tucker’s Point with a promise to hold the event every two years. Unfortunately, Covid restrictions cancelled the event due for 2021, and the 2023 event was delayed until this year.”
