Noelle Young secured approval from YOUNGO to host Bermuda’s first Local Consultation of Youth [LCOY], uniting young leaders to address key issues and align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

A spokesperson said, “Noelle Young, local Sustainability Solutionist and founder of the Youth Delegation of Bermuda, has received approval from YOUNGO, the Children and Youth Constituency of the United Nations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change [UNFCCC], to host Bermuda’s first LCOY. This groundbreaking event will unite young leaders, activists, advocates, and school groups to discuss some of Bermuda’s most pressing challenges and address the state of Bermuda in relation to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The LCOY is a FREE event that aims to empower Bermuda’s youth by gathering their observations and recommendations, highlighting youth initiatives and projects, as well as providing information about national and international opportunities for success.”

Youth Call to Action:

“I urge all young Bermudians to take action,” Noelle Young emphasized. “Become the leaders, innovators, and change-makers our community needs. Change starts with us. We cannot wait for rescue; we need to rescue ourselves and prepare for future generations. Start initiatives, engage with community organizations, and participate in decision-making processes.”

Ms Young added, “The main focus of Bermuda’s first LCOY will be Climate Justice, a topic many may not fully understand in its daily impact. As a small island nation, it is vital to educate ourselves and others about climate justice. We will discuss various issues from this standpoint, including water rights, education access, waste management, food security, our high homicide rate, and Youth Equity.”

The spokesperson said, “Noelle will submit a final LCOY Bermuda report to YOUNGO, which will be included in a collective document for consideration at COP29 in November. This FREE event aims to foster community engagement, raise awareness, and develop actionable solutions through discussions and collaboration among Bermudian youth aged 13-39. The LCOY seeks to boost local youth action and contribute to international conferences, representing a national version of the international Conference of Youth [COY].
