Minister & BTA CEO Tour Fairmont Southampton
Minister Owen Darrell and BTA CEO Jan Hutton met with representatives from Gencom and the Fairmont Southampton development team, and they toured the recently upgraded Beach Club facilities.
A Government spokesperson said, “Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, the Hon. Owen Darrell, JP, MP, met with representatives from Gencom and the Fairmont Southampton development team on July 20, alongside Bermuda Tourism Authority CEO Jan Hutton. The meeting served as an introduction between the new BTA CEO and the Fairmont Southampton/Gencom team, while providing an opportunity to discuss the progress of the hotel’s redevelopment and its importance to Bermuda’s tourism industry.
Minister Darrell said: “The Fairmont Southampton is a cornerstone of Bermuda’s tourism product, and its reopening will play a vital role in strengthening our visitor economy. It was encouraging to meet with the Gencom team, see the progress being made, and discuss how this redevelopment will enhance our ability to attract more visitors, larger groups, and increased airlift to Bermuda.”
A Government spokesperson added, “During the visit, the delegation toured the recently upgraded Beach Club facilities, where the development team showcased the amenities that will be available for guests and shared their vision for enhancing the visitor experience and supporting future group business.
“The meeting concluded with discussions on the current status of the redevelopment, the anticipated reopening schedule, and the positive impact the hotel’s return will have on Bermuda’s tourism product, including creating new opportunities to attract additional airlift and group travel to the island.”
