Column: Hodgson On Holiday Season & More
[Opinion column written by Senator Arianna Hodgson]
As the holiday season gets into full swing with Christmas parties and festivities kicking off this weekend, I want to take a moment to encourage everyone in our community to celebrate responsibly.
The holiday season is a time for joy, connection, and reflection, and we all have a part to play in ensuring it remains a safe and enjoyable time for all.
I have spoken with the Minister of National Security and the Police Commissioner and am pleased to share that steps are being taken to enhance police patrols in the area as well as an increased presence across our community. These efforts aim to provide reassurance and help deter incidents.
Here are a few ways you can help:
- Drink Responsibly: If you choose to consume alcohol, know your limits. Ensure you have a designated driver or a safe way to get home.
- Be Considerate: Respect your neighbors and those around you by keeping noise levels reasonable and avoiding disruptive behavior.
- Report Unruly Behavior: If you see someone who might be in trouble or witness any anti-social behavior, don’t hesitate to report it to the authorities.
As we come together with family and friends, let’s prioritize respect for one another and look out for those who may be vulnerable. Whether hosting or attending an event, please be mindful of your actions.
Let’s make this season one of unity, responsibility, and community spirit. Together, we can ensure a happy and peaceful holiday season for all.
Stay safe, and I wish you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas season.

With a sense of our despair with your Christmas message that you have discovered that our people are incapable of orderly conduct as you relate to ten parsgraphs all concerning the need to issue instructions on behavior patterns.
Whow ! that is an unjustifiable slap in the face to every body.
How can you paint every body with a broard brush?
That is just going to far and not fair.
Are we to assume that you have found the need to consider to control the public who in your opinion those persons behave in a irresponsible manner.
With out doubt, as you put to paper you appear to considder our hard working Bermudians as second class citizens as you reward our people with no less than a “put down ” ( TYPICAL ) being some what of a down grade and demeaning oppinion as being comsiddered insulting.
Shame on you !
