BCCL Opens Mentorship Program Applications
Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning [BCCL] announced that applications for its Teacher Mentorship Program for the 2025-26 school year can now be submitted.
A spokesperson said, “January is National Mentoring Month which is an awareness campaign that runs throughout the month. Launched in 2002, the campaign aims to unify and expand the mentoring movement, celebrate the power of relationships, and raise awareness around the importance of mentoring in the United States.
“The Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning [BCCL] strongly believes in mentoring newly qualified teachers and in 2020 launched an innovative two-year program that has empowered educators to specialize in addressing the needs of students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Established in 2015, the Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning is the only school in Bermuda that exclusively enrolls students who learn differently. With rolling admissions for children ages 6 to 15, BCCL offers a nurturing environment that emphasizes flexible, personalized learning using the UK National and International Primary & Middle Years Curriculums.
“BCCL is excited to announce that applications for its Teacher Mentorship Program for the 2025-26 school year can now be submitted. This program is open to Bermudians, Spouses of Bermudians, and Permanent Resident Certificate [PRC] Holders who hold a bachelor’s degree in education, have completed at least 12 weeks of student teaching, and are eligible for a Bermuda Educators Council teacher’s license.
“Participants will work alongside master-level teachers in a paid mentorship program that includes health insurance, gaining invaluable skills in a flexible and personalized learning environment. Participants in the program receive hands-on training in small classroom settings, learning best practices from experienced educators. They gain expertise in managing diverse learning needs while fostering a supportive and engaging environment for their students.
“BCCL believes in preparing Bermuda’s next generation of educators because of the alarming statistics published by the National Center for Learning Disabilities [US], saying that 1 in 5 children face learning and attention challenges. In Bermuda, this translates to an estimated 1,694 children who may need additional educational support. Through the Teacher Mentorship Program, BCCL is equipping teachers with the skills to make a meaningful difference for these students.”
“Our mentorship program goes beyond teaching—it builds a foundation for educators to create inclusive, supportive classrooms where students with diverse learning needs can thrive,” said Cindy Corday, Head of School at BCCL. “This program is a testament to our commitment to both students and educators, empowering teachers to make lasting changes in their communities.”
BCCL is proud to have four incredible mentees in their 2024-2025 cohort:
- Sabriyya Harvey: Is committed to fostering inclusive educational experiences, combining her background in arts to supporting diverse learners.
