Independent Candidate Renee Webb — who will be running in Constituency #13 Devonshire North Central — is holding a press conference this morning [Jan 20]. We will have additional coverage later on and in the meantime the live video is below.
Since the one seat system in 2003, the PLP have won the seat in all 5 General Elections, and the seat is currently held by the PLP’s Diallo Rabain, who serves as the Minister of Education. The OBA does not currently list a candidate for C13 on their website.
All of the candidates for the 2025 General Election will be confirmed on January 31st, which is nomination day.

Renee sit down. Up until recently you have benefited from the PLP you were in Brussels.
I use to respect you but you are full of it. I am not a fan of Deallo but I would never vote you in flip flopped.
the thing is any member of parliament is supposed to serve their constituency and to serve Bermuda…. serving your “Party” on many occasions is NOT the best interests of either of those.

I liked a lot of what Renee said – my problem with the independents is that they each represent something different: how is that conducive to running a government? Wouldn’t that actually stop things getting done?
I do not see having independents preventing the government from working.
Prior to 1968 the Members chose a number amongst themselves to be what today we call a Minister.
There is no reason that the independents or even a combination of independents and a political party cannot find the best people amongst them to be be in Cabinet and to be a Minister. The biggest problem is more likely to be ideological than functional.
You still stuck on page 1 of Nursery school Politics. They will make great speeches but wont get a penny. There were never independents in Bermuda if 95 percent of the time they voted in favour or against a measure. Independent only in name.Please get your glasses and do some more reading rather than give us this nonsense again.

Would you prefer ” It’s my way or hit the highway ” party politics where the party leader has the final say . With independents they will have their own voice and any others in agreement will side with them to help make a fair outcome .
I’ll say it again. The Finance Minister will not be sending any money their way to fix anything unless it is a national emergency. Ouch. Their constituents I’m sure understand that.
What makes you think the finance minister will not be an independent ?
If I’m not mistaken – this is the same Renee Webb that was complicit in the same PLP government framework that indebted the country for many generations to come.
Unless she has a doppelgänger with completely different views we somehow didn’t know about, the country is probably better off without her in politics.
For anyone who really believes she will get all this done – I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
Impossible for her to do anything she proposes by herself. That should be very obvious to anyone with anything between their ears.
This is the beauty of independents. They have to convince their fellow independents that their proposal is a good one. They are not a slave to a party whip.
The UK needs to hear the experiences of bermudians under each political parties governance of Bermuda.
The UK needs to investigate Bermuda governance and former mp who have also abused their time in office under political parties should be held accountable for their actions and lack of action while in office…why should we elect you all as independents when we have other voting options to get the change that ALL of the parties have failed to deliver.
Politics politicians and political parties have lost very large selection of this community trust and support…and rightly so.
So Ms webb n others…you all have had your chances
You all have been playing the people for stupid while our human civil and constitutional rights are abused by those in governance.
We have always had the option to vote for ending Bermuda self governance…this is our long standing right as UK citizenz which all the political parties have concealed from us…making Bermuda a political party based dictatorship and not really a democracy.
And the UK now needs to hear from bermudians in the UK and here in Bermuda.
She think we dumb and stupid? Who got the Coco Reef deal 1999? Who was appointed to Brussels? Rolf loses his Senate seat and he is vicious against the PLP in almost everything he writes and now Rene Webb. What they think we have?… dementia…. and can’t remember how they lived like Kings and a Queen until they fell on their own petards. When on the inside they lived well and viciously attacked the Opposition. Take away their candy and they start to attack the same party (PLP) who gave them so much. She has some skeletons in the closet for sure but she does not have a criminal record. I’d be much more skeptical of those former UBP leaders if they suddenly claimed to have a backbone and ran as independents the Renee.

Hmmm, she rode the PLP gravy train for a long long time. That gets the skeptisism up. However, now she talks a good talk and is genuine or a very good actress.
I’d like to believe that she is genuine. It is refreshing to hear someone who is educated and can actually think on her feet and speak without alot of “uh uhs”, “you know’s” and “um um’s” thrown in as they stumble along with the brain barely functioning.
Don’t agree with everything that she proposes but sure do agree with more than enough to vote her way.
