Parks Department Seeks Lifeguard Applicants

The Department of Parks has announced the commencement of its “recruitment drive for 20 Seasonal Full-Time and Seasonal Reserve Surf Lifeguards for the 2025 Lifeguard Service. ”

A Government spokesperson said, “Applications are now being accepted, with the deadline of 17 January 2025.

“Successful candidates will serve from April to November, playing an important role in ensuring the safety of beachgoers across Bermuda.

“The Department encourages individuals aged 16 years or older who are strong swimmers, in good health, and physically fit to seize this dynamic opportunity to make a difference in the community.

“Applicants can collect recruitment packages in person from the Department of Parks at the Ground Floor, Global House, 43 Church Street, Hamilton HM12, or access them online at www.gov.bm/online-services/lifeguardservice.

“For additional details, applicants can contact the Department at [441] 236-5902.

Why Apply by the Deadline?

  • Early Swim Assessments: The Initial Swim Assessments [ISA], a key requirement, will be held in early January [3rd, 5th, and 12th January] at the Bermuda National Sports Centre. Applicants who delay may miss these critical opportunities.
  • Professional Training: Successful candidates will undergo an intensive lifeguard training course, fully provided by the Department, covering lifesaving techniques, first aid, and water safety skills.
  • Leadership Opportunity: Lifeguarding offers a unique chance to develop decision-making, responsibility, and public service skills that save lives.”

A spokesperson for the Department of Parks commented: “Lifeguards are the cornerstone of our commitment to beach and water safety in Bermuda. Their vigilance and skill prevent countless emergencies and reassure residents and visitors alike.

“We are calling on individuals passionate about making a difference to join this rewarding programme. Every application counts toward building a safer Bermuda.”
