Netball: Phoenix Sparks, Storm & Fire Win
Bernard’s Park buzzed with Netball action as the Bermuda Netball Association’s annual Harold Doc Dowling Youth Tournament and the Senior Who’s Who Tournament unfolded.
11 & Under Division
In the 11 & Under Division, a thrilling finish saw the Phoenix Sparks emerge victorious with 9 points, despite a tie on points with both Storm Thunder and North Village Lady Rams.
However, the Sparks’ superior goal difference secured them the top spot. Storm Lightning finished fourth, with the Dandy Stars in fifth. Notable results included a dominant 16-2 win for the Sparks over Dandy Stars and a close 6-5 victory for Storm Thunder over Storm Lightning.
14 & Under Division
The 14 & Under Division witnessed a flawless performance from Storm, who went undefeated to claim the title with 9 points.
Phoenix Embers finished second with 6 points, followed by North Village Lady Rams with 3, and the Dandy Stars in fourth.
Storm’s dominance was evident in their 11-0 victory over Dandy Stars and their 7-1 win against Phoenix Embers.
18 & Under Division
The Phoenix Fire continued their club’s success in the 18 & Under Division, also going undefeated to secure first place with 9 points.
The DC Diamonds finished second with 4 points, North Village Lady Rams third with 3, and Storm fourth with 1.
A highlight was Phoenix Fire’s commanding 10-2 victory over Storm, and their 10-4 win over DC Diamonds.
Who’s Who Senior Division
The Senior Who’s Who Tournament saw a closely contested day one, with St. George’s and Phoenix Heat both finishing with 6 points. North Village Lady Rams secured 3 points, while the Tigers and Storm are yet to register a point.
Key results included St. George’s narrow 5-4 victory over the Tigers, Phoenix Heat’s 11-7 win against North Village Lady Rams, and North Village Lady Rams’ convincing 14-3 victory over Storm.
The youth tournaments showcased the promising talent emerging in Bermuda netball, while the senior tournament promises a thrilling conclusion. With teams closely matched, the Who’s Who Tournament is set for an exciting day two.
