Kempe & Penruddocke Compete In Hyères
Bermudian sailor Sebastian Kempe surged up the leaderboard on the third day of the 56th French Olympic Week in Hyères, while Adriana Penruddocke was also in action. The prestigious event features 727 sailors from 56 nations.
As winds intensified throughout the day, ranging from 10-15 knots to 20-30 knots, both Penruddocke in the 76-boat ILCA 6 fleet and Kempe in the larger 112-boat ILCA 7 fleet aimed to capitalize on the increased breeze.
Kempe delivered a strong performance in the ILCA 7 class, competing in three races. He began with a 5th-place finish in the fourth race of the series, followed by a first-place victory in the subsequent race. He concluded the day with an 8th-place finish. His consistent results earned him 29 net points, elevating him from 15th to 4th overall. Nicholas Halliday of Hong Kong currently leads the ILCA 7 fleet with 12 net points.
Penruddocke experienced a more challenging day in the ILCA 6 fleet. Starting in 23rd position, she finished the day in 24th overall with 46 net points. Her race finishes were 17th, 14th, and 13th. Anna Munch of Denmark continues to lead the ILCA 6 fleet with 5 net points.
