Rotary Leaders Celebrate Youth In Bermuda
Rotary District 7230 leaders and delegates visited Bermuda to host a leadership training conference and celebrate local youth achievements.
A spokesperson said, “The District Governor of Rotary District 7230 and a delegation of nine past District Governors, District Secretary, District Governor Elect, and DG Nominee joined local Assistant Governor Peronia Brown and Rotary Presidents to host a PELS Conference/Leadership Training for Bermuda Rotarians.
“While on the island, they took time to award Rotary youth and advisers from the four Interact Clubs.
“These included the Mount St.Agnes Interact Club, led by adviser Rondelle Richardson and sponsored by Pembroke Rotary Club with help from Youth Director, Linda Parker, and Club President, Barbara Edwards, advisers Joanne Anderson and Eric Bean and Interactors from CedarBridge Academy, Youth Director Beverly Daniels and adviser Nolwenn Pugi, and Interactors from Hamilton Rotary Interact Club, sponsored by Hamilton Rotary Club, and St. George’s Rotary Club and advisers Dr.Judith Bartley and Sharlene Young and Interactors from Somersfield Academy, sponsored by Pembroke Rotary Club.
“The Interactors honoured Mr. Kirk Kitson, who introduced Interact to Bermuda 50 years ago. They presented him with a Rotary Youth Trailblazer award to celebrate five decades serving Rotary and youth both in Rotary and the community.
“The Rotary District Delegates also swore in 14 Rotaractors [age 18 to 30] in a hybrid ceremony where some of the youth were in attendance at The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club and others tuned in from university and career intern destinations in England, Canada, Morocco, and the United States.
“The incoming President of the Bermuda Longtail Interact ‘E’ Club is Zayne Sinclair; the Vice President is Ashley Swainson; the treasurer is Ashrey Cannonier; the secretary and public image chair is Nadhiri Simons Worrell; the membership chair is Chrishantè Dill; and the service project chair is Ashlyn Lee.
“The club is open to persons working on acquiring their GED, past and present university students, and professionals who are seeking opportunities to hone and gain leadership opportunities, polish interpersonal relations, and conduct local and global service above self. Age of members ranges from 18 to 30+.
“The club will be supported by all four Rotary Clubs in Bermuda, Rotary District 7230, and Rotary International.”
