Three Bermudians To Join CCLD 2025
Cara Lambe, Jaret Simmons, and Ashley LaVonne Smith are set to take part in the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue 2025.
A spokesperson said, “Bermudians Cara Lambe, Jaret Simmons and Ashley LaVonne Smith will soon embark on a whirlwind experiential learning journey of a lifetime as participants in the Caribbean Canada Leaders Dialogue 2025 [CCLD 2025], a conference that runs from 22 May to 1 June.
“As three of Bermuda’s up-and-coming leaders, Ms Lambe and Ms LaVonne Smith will join the conference’s Barbados Country Tour, while Mr Simmons joins the Jamaica Country Tour. While they are enjoying tours in the Caribbean, 14 conference participants from across Canada and the Caribbean will travel to experience the Bermuda Country Tour.
“CCLD 2025 recognises that developing capable, ethical leaders is one of the Commonwealth’s most important and complex responsibilities. It views leadership as not just coming from a textbook but rather from experiences that create dialogues which build participants’ leadership competencies.
“Tammy L Richardson-Augustus serves as the CCLD 2025 Bermuda Country Tour Lead and co-chairs its steering committee with Edward G Ball Jr. She shared her reflections on being Bermuda’s first female and intergenerational delegate to attend the conference.”
“CCDL was a cornerstone of my growth as a leader –it ignited my community spirit, forged invaluable partnerships, and unveiled pathways to meaningful change”, said Ms Richardson-Augustus. “Hosting participants here in Bermuda gives me the opportunity to give back not only to future leaders but to the charity that has given so much to me. I am also looking forward to our three Bermudian participants bringing their own transformative experiences back to their organisations and our community.”
The spokesperson said, “Ms Lambe is a Senior Officer in International Affairs at the Bermuda Monetary Authority, Mr Simmons is an Asian Markets Trader at Orbis Investment Management Limited, and Ms LaVonne Smith is an Executive Recording Secretary [Bermuda Public Services Union]/Enforcement Officer and Supervisor [Judicial Department, Bermuda Government].
“CCLD 2025 brings together 100 aspiring leaders from across the business, labour, government, education and non-profit sectors. As an innovative leadership experience, it builds on longstanding Commonwealth relationships, featuring an opening in Canada, followed by study tours across Bermuda and various Caribbean countries and a closing plenary in Barbados.
“Under the CCLD 2025 umbrella theme are six sub-themes, each explored via a unique dialogue tour in one of seven Caribbean countries, with 14 to 16 participants travelling and working together. The Barbados tour explores impact-driven leadership, Bahamas diversity, inclusion and equity, Bermuda advocacy and policy reform, Dominica social-impact and community engagement, Grenada ethical and values-based leadership, Guyana sustainable development and innovation, and Jamaica collaborative partnerships and collective impact.
