CG sponsored the Bermuda Smash Cricket Tournament, celebrating top-level play and community engagement, highlighted by a visit from cricket legend Sir Curtly Ambrose.

A spokesperson said, “CG proudly served as the Title Sponsor of the Bermuda Smash Cricket Tournament, a dynamic week of test matches that brought energy, excitement, and community spirit to Bermuda. The tournament wrapped on Sunday after a successful series of fixtures, with players and fans alike celebrating the return of high-level cricket to the island.

“As part of its ongoing commitment to regional sport and wellness, CG, an official sponsor of Cricket West Indies [CWI], was proud to support four CWI players who took part in the tournament. Their participation helped elevate the level of play while strengthening ties between Bermuda and the wider Caribbean cricket community.

“In addition to these players, CG also welcomed cricketing legend Sir Curtly Ambrose to Bermuda as a special guest. Throughout the week, Sir Curtly engaged with local fans, CG staff members, and, through a special gathering arranged by the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, a group of Bermuda’s senior citizens. His presence brought inspiration, particularly as he spoke passionately about the importance of prioritising health and wellbeing at every stage of life. His message was well received by the group, who asked thoughtful questions and posed for photographs in a lively and heartfelt session.”

Minister Tinée Furbert, commented, “We thank CG for hosting Sir Curtly Ambrose here in Bermuda. His presence and words of wisdom inspired our seniors, reminding us all of the importance of continued engagement and investment in their wellbeing. Bermuda will continue to be strengthened when we bring sport, community, and care together.”

“Cricket is more than a game in Bermuda, it’s part of our national identity,” said Naz Farrow, CG Chief Executive Officer. “At CG, we believe in the power of sport to unite people and promote wellbeing. Supporting events like the Bermuda Smash gives us the opportunity to celebrate that tradition, while also reinforcing our commitment to the communities in which we live and work. Seeing Sir Curtly engage with both young fans and seniors reminds us that health and connection transcend generations.”

As Sir Curtly Ambrose second visit to the island, he commented on his time in Bermuda saying, “From the moment I arrived in Bermuda, I felt truly welcomed. From the customs officers at the airport to the players, fans, CG staff, and everyone I met. I really enjoyed sharing my story and thoughts with the senior community and appreciated the chance to connect with so many people during my time on the island.”

The spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Smash tournament and Sir Curtly’s visit reflect CG’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact through health, sport, and meaningful community connections.”
