As Bermuda gears up for the National Heroes Day holiday weekend, Minister of National Security Michael Weeks is urging residents and visitors to celebrate with unity, respect, and enjoyment.

A Government spokesperson said, “As Bermuda prepares to enjoy the National Heroes Day holiday weekend, Minister of National Security Michael Weeks encourages all residents and visitors to embrace the celebrations with a spirit of unity, respect and enjoyment.”

Minister Weeks offered the following message: “This weekend is a special time to reflect on the achievements of our National Heroes — men and women who helped shape Bermuda into the proud community we are today.

“From the King’s Parade on Saturday, to Father’s Day on Sunday, and the vibrant carnival festivities on Monday, including the early-morning J’ouvert A.M. [JAM] procession and the Revel De Road Carnival in the afternoon, this weekend is full of moments to celebrate who we are as a people.

“Please take this opportunity to enjoy the events, spend time with family and friends, and honour the values that bring us together.”

The Minister also extended warm Father’s Day wishes to all fathers and father figures across the Island. “Your role in the lives of your families and the broader community is invaluable. I wish you a joyful and relaxing Father’s Day,” he continued.

The spokesperson said, “Looking ahead to the days of celebration, Minister Weeks encouraged everyone to take advantage of the good weather forecast by enjoying the outdoors responsibly, including any marine and boating activities planned for the weekend.”

“I know many will be heading out on the water to enjoy the beautiful conditions, and I encourage everyone to take the usual precautions to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe,” he added.

“As we celebrate this weekend, let’s do so with kindness, consideration and care for one another. I wish everyone a safe, joyful and memorable National Heroes Day weekend.”

    Oh, the irony.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

It really says something about the culture of Bermuda these days when everytime a holiday comes along the Minister has to plead to the public to behave.

New Bermuda. How far we have come.

Minister of National Security, years ago the UBP aka oba initiated the unity request before your party, as they began to acquire surrogates in the hopes of winning more votes.

    Minister Weeks
    Happy tuesfday .
We all know that your job is not easy if it was every body would be wanting it.
Government can not lock up every body so very true.
I thought that we Bermudians are resiliant but hunger and booze creats anger through loss of human value and economic instability you know what is wrong and you know how to fix it .
If a business has to close there is no money to buy bread , business can not offer no work, we all want to work it is good to do something and we always pay our bill as we are all good at that .

What is this something we hear that word over and over or something like that .

Can we take the easy way out let us all blame the TV as we would not be too far wrong on that one, they even do repeat programings so we dont miss any thing. bank ! bang !
Several violent programs were repeated three time yesterday all i can do it turn the TV off or change channels and ask for my money back.

Business has to stop ripping people off in the long run we and they all loose .

This on going inflation has done Bermuda alot of harm. and it is not over .
Business go under people loose job.
it gets to the point where people have had enough and the just simply break or while others just quit the Island.

  4. PAC MAN says:

Here is a job description that not many people have heard of
QUANTITY SURVEYOR. He /She on behalf of the builder will calculate the prices on Monday to find an increas on Tuesday every item it take the cnstruct a building right down the the last nut a bolt .
i used to do a version of that job which come from years of experiance with price increasing ,how is it posible to gusarantee the cost of a building to cover that adjustments have to be made never down but up , so much for contract building.
that in its self becomes no longer viabl,e labor wage are part of the problem ,insurance rate fly out the window how does an insurance company know simple they don’t .
Not untill the vendors and the tax man turns the tide the bottom line will increast to effect the cost of living.
Can you all not see that you all are destroying Bermuda. taking our island apart pieee by piece.
