Cup Match Trial Matches Wrap-Up
Somerset and St George’s Cup Match trial matches took place at Somerset Cricket Club and the Wellington Oval, respectively, as the two teams prepare for Cup Match, which starts on Thursday [July 31].
At Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Vice-President’s XI drew with the Somerset President’s XI.
The Vice-President’s XI scored 299 for the loss of six wickets before containing the President’s XI to 235 for five.
Dominic Sabir scored 113 not out for the Vice-President’s XI, while Terry Fray hit 56 before retiring and Deunte Darrell also scoring 56 for the President’s XI.
Meanwhile, at Wellington Oval, the St George’s President’s XI defeated the St George’s Vice-President’s XI by three wickets.
The Vice-President’s XI scored 193 all out, with from Jonté Smith hitting 65, while Keegan Jones took three wickets for 61 for the President’s XI.
In reply, the President’s XI chased down the target, reaching 196 for seven, with Charles Trott Jr scoring 51.
