St George’s And Somerset Draw Colts Game
Some of the island’s top young cricketers showcased their skills during the Colts Cup Match at the Wellington Oval, with St George’s Colts and Somerset Colts playing to a draw.
St George’s won the toss and scored 334 for the loss of six wickets from 62 overs, with Isaiah O’Brien scoring 87 runs from 76 balls, including four fours and seven sixes.
Captain Oyinde Bascome hit 80 runs off 69 deliveries, including five fours and seven sixes.
Luke Horan, another player selected for the senior Cup Match, scored 64 from 36 balls, including three fours and six sixes.
Callum Mcintosh was the pick of the Somerset bowlers, taking two for 43, while Brianna Ray claimed two for 71.
In reply, Somerset Cricket Club reached 171 for three. Callum Macfarlane anchored their innings with 56 runs from 76 balls, hitting nine fours.
Also celebrating his impending Cup Match debut, Zeri Tomlinson scored 51 runs from 64 balls, including nine fours.
Bascome claimed two wickets for 18.
The draw means St George’s retain the trophy.
