Scott Barnes Ready For Title Battle

Karting driver Scott Barnes will battle to retain his Shifter Masters class title when he races in the Skusa Pro Tour SummerNationals at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana this weekend.

Currently sitting third in the standings, Barnes remains in mathematical contention as the series wraps up with its final two rounds.

“I need some luck on my side,” Barnes told Bernews. “It’s racing – anything can happen.

“We just have to control what we can and let the chips fall where they may.

“I can definitely still win the title, but I need a perfect weekend and for a few others to have some bad luck.”

Barnes admits this will be his longest stretch away from the kart in recent memory, but he remains confident heading into familiar territory.

“Seat time is always helpful, but I know this track well – I’ve raced here multiple times,” he said. “I’m feeling good and ready to rock.”

Barnes claimed a pair of podiums at the SpringNationals in Cincinnati in May.

Barnes was declared the winner of round three after the initial race winner Scott Presti was disqualified following a protest after a collision with Barnes. He came runner-up in round four.

Barnes, who races for Maranello Karts USA, is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, and All Rise Limited.
