An inmate being transported from the Courts to the Co-Ed Facility “became disruptive and attempted to manipulate their restraints,” and “additional officers were called to assist” and “the situation was contained.”

A Government spokesman advised: “A Department of Corrections escort was transporting an inmate from the Courts to the Co-Ed Facility. During the journey, at approximately 1:24 pm today, the inmate became disruptive and attempted to manipulate their restraints.

“The escort stopped to ensure the safety of the offender and staff, and additional officers were called to assist. The situation was contained, and the inmate returned to the Co-Ed Facility without further incident. There is no ongoing risk to the public.”

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Senator Kim Wilkerson said: “I have requested the Department of Corrections conduct a review of the incident. I want to thank the officers involved for their swift actions.”
