Age Concern has postponed its Public General Meeting due to the impending impacts of Hurricane Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda, rescheduling the event for October 21st.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda is currently preparing for the effects of Hurricane Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda. The Emergency Measures Organization [EMO] has reminded us all of the importance of being storm-ready, keeping in close contact with loved ones, and ensuring emergency plans are in place.

“With this in mind, and out of care for the safety of our members, volunteers, and the wider community, Age Concern has made the decision to postpone the Public General Meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30th.

“Age Concern invites the public to attend their annual Public General Meeting on the rescheduled date, Tuesday, October 21st, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Evangelical Church, 1 Mission Road, Paget.

“This important annual gathering provides an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about the organization’s work, reflect on the year’s accomplishments, and engage with future plans. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in open discussions and hear updates on upcoming initiatives.

“Light refreshments will be provided. We encourage you to bring a friend and come together to make a lasting difference.

“In the meantime, Age Concern urges the public to take care. Check on emergency supplies, review storm plans, and stay connected with neighbours, friends and especially any older adults who may need extra support during this time.
