iEPC Highlights Co-Op Student Daniel Cabral
Engineering company iEPC Limited highlighted co-op student, Daniel Cabral, who worked with the Company’s Engineering Services division this summer.
A spokesperson said, “Daniel is currently studying for a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University. Co-op programmes are tied to a student’s academic programme and are part of their curriculum that provides credits toward their studies. They are typically long-term, lasting a semester and integrate both their academic studies and real work experience.
“This was Daniel’s second time working with iEPC, the first as a summer student in 2024, and his co-op programme ran from April through to the end of August this year.”
“I chose to conduct my second official co-op placement at iEPC because of the collaborative atmosphere and exposure to high-level local engineering challenges,” he said. “My main position was on the mechanical engineering team, where I provided ongoing support to iEPC project leads across all three key disciplines. This often involved conducting site inspections, drafting engineering drawings, and developing client fee proposals.”
During the course of his co-op placement, he said his experience at iEPC had given him valuable insight into BELCO’s daily operations and local planning requirements. He added: “The highlight of my role so far has been contributing to the submission process of a formal Request for Proposal [RFP] for a large-scale solar PV project, which offered a hands-on opportunity to apply both technical and regulatory knowledge.”
Managing Director of ReGen, Azeem Khan, said: “The entire team at iEPC was excited to have Daniel back for his co-op programme where he provided valuable input into ongoing projects the Company is working on. During the summer, Daniel benefitted from hands-on experience that will enhance his knowledge and understanding of engineering outside of the classroom. On behalf of the entire team, I wish Daniel every success with his studies and look forward to him returning to Bermuda to help build a sustainable future for the island.”
