The St. George’s Foundation is inviting the public to the Fort Albert Open Day on Saturday, October 25th.

A spokesperson said, “The Fort Albert Open House will mark a significant milestone in the restoration and revitalization of one of Bermuda’s historic treasures. Organized by The St. George’s Foundation, this event will showcase the transformation of Fort Albert — a 19th-century British military fortification and integral part of Bermuda’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“Abandoned for over 35 years following the closure of Club Med in 1988, Fort Albert had fallen into disrepair. Dense overgrowth of invasive plant species engulfed the site, and remnants of industrial kitchen equipment lay scattered throughout the grounds. Through extensive volunteer and professional efforts carried out by The St George’s Foundation, these barriers have now been removed, and the fort’s historic features have been restored.

“The Open House will be the first time in decades that the public is invited to experience Fort Albert. Attendees will enjoy complimentary guided tours and a performance by the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band.”
