Clyde Best Documentary Preview On Nov 20
Cambridge Beaches Resort will host an exclusive preview of Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story on Thursday, November 20.
A spokesperson said, “Cambridge Beaches Resort will proudly host the exclusive Film Preview for ‘Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story’, an inspiring new documentary that chronicles the life and legacy of one of Bermuda’s greatest sports icons, Clyde Best.
“The exclusive event, taking place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, will give Bermudians an early look at this landmark production before its international premiere. Tickets are $150 per person, with limited seating available. A portion of proceeds will support the Bermuda Football Exhibition, the film’s legacy community project.
A Story of Courage, Legacy, and Bermuda Pride
“Transforming the Beautiful Game follows Clyde Best’s extraordinary journey from the streets of Somerset to becoming one of the first Black superstars in English football’s modern television era. Signing with West Ham United at just 17, Best broke barriers on and off the field—scoring 58 goals in 218 appearances, paving the way for generations of Black athletes who followed.
“At a time when racism was routine and representation was rare, Best’s determination, humility, and courage helped transform football’s global landscape, inspiring countless fans around the world.
An Unforgettable Evening
“The November 20 event will feature a 10-minute film sneak peek, a panel discussion with Clyde Best, Ade Coker, film narrator Tony D. Head, and author Patrick Horne, followed by dinner and a networking reception at Shoreline Restaurant. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening.
Event Highlights:
- Welcome Reception & Remarks

Clarence Hofheins, General Manager of Cambridge Beaches Resort, shared his pride in hosting the event: “Clyde Best represents the very best of Bermuda — resilience, humility, and excellence against all odds. We are deeply honoured to welcome him home to celebrate this important story. Cambridge Beaches has always been rooted in community, and it’s fitting that this milestone moment takes place here in Somerset, where Clyde’s journey first began.”
Dan Egan, Executive Producer of Transforming the Beautiful Game, added: “Clyde’s story transcends sport — it’s about courage, inclusion, and the power of perseverance. Bringing this announcement to Bermuda, and to Clyde’s home parish, is incredibly meaningful. The island’s support has been vital in helping us share his story with the world.”
Community Legacy: The Clyde Best Mural
The spokesperson said, “As part of its continued commitment to celebrating Bermuda’s heritage and inspiring future generations, Cambridge Beaches has commissioned a new public mural honouring Clyde Best. Painted by local artist Ms. Barbara Dillas, the mural will appear on the wall opposite Mr. Chicken in Somerset — a prominent location where residents and visitors pass daily.”
“We hope that when people see this mural, they feel a renewed sense of community spirit and pride,” said Hofheins. “Clyde’s story reminds us that greatness begins right here at home.”
