The Chatmore Foundation will host its 2nd Annual No School Is an Island: Atlantic Regional Conference on 18–19 February 2026, in association with the Council of British International Schools [COBIS].

A spokesperson said, “The Chatmore Foundation stands as the charity arm for Chatmore British International School located here in Bermuda.

“The inaugural conference held in February 2025 drew over 120 attendees and notable overseas and local presenters including Calvin Eden, Graeme Lawrie, Pam Mundy and more. Chatmore’s quality assurance status with COBIS allowed for this international partnership which emphasised collaboration and cohesion within Bermuda’s educational landscape. Local schools supported Chatmore’s conference noting that it allowed for high quality professional development here at home, cutting the costs associated with sending teachers overseas for similar events.

“This year’s conference focus, ‘Kindness in Education’ will bring together a diverse range of educators, researchers, and school leaders from around the globe to explore a variety of topics that include AI and the Future of Education, Early Years Policy, Learner-Driven Education and especially how compassion, empathy, and wellbeing in Early Years through Secondary can shape the future state of our local and international Education community.

Head of Partnerships at ACS International Schools Ltd., Mr. Graeme Lawrie said, “Kindness in education is not a soft idea. It is a strategic commitment to equity, access and shared opportunity. Through partnerships, whether in the UK, Bermuda or globally, we can ensure that every child benefits from the combined strengths of our schools. That is how we build a future where young people have the confidence to choose their own path, in their own time.”

The spokesperson said, “The two-day conference will include keynote talks, interactive workshops, and panel discussions examining how kindness can be embedded in leadership, curriculum design, and school culture. It will also spotlight innovative practices that foster inclusion, resilience, and community connection within schools.”

Mr Lawrie, a popular presenter at the inaugural Conference in February 2025, says: “Partnerships are one of the most practical expressions of kindness in education. When we share expertise, facilities, and learning between schools, we are telling young people that they belong to a wider community that wants them to thrive. ACS and Chatmore share that belief, and we are proud to stand together in promoting an education system that keeps doors open rather than closing them too early.”

The spokesperson said, “Angela L. Fubler, Programme Innovation Lead for the Foundation and conference co-organizer, emphasizes that the goal of the 2026 No School is an Island Atlantic Regional Conference is to open up the conversation around Education and Learning for everyone in Bermuda:”

“The Chatmore Foundation wants to see Bermuda education move beyond competition between schools and toward stronger, more authentic community partnerships.” Today’s decisions are tomorrow’s inheritance and the Foundation’s vision is for Bermuda’s educational legacy to reflect unity, compassion and collective responsibility. Mrs Fubler states, “Education and learning should be something we are always shaping and celebrating together – because the future success of education in our Bermuda is the responsibility of every generation – from those who teach, lead and influence our community today to those unknowns who will design and inspire our future.”

The spokesperson said, “In an age of rapid change, the question is no longer simply what subjects our children study, but how we empower them to think, adapt, and be equipped to choose wisely – when they are ready.
