Other competitors included juniors Nahla Ndiaye and Stian Du Preez, and adult competitor Elijah Richardson.

The event was held at the Kerr Hall Gymnasium at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Aaron Dyer, founder of Open Mat Bermuda, said: “It was an exceptional weekend for our team, and I couldn’t be prouder of every athlete who represented our academy on the mats.

“Elijah Richardson, competing as a blue belt in the adult men’s 185lbs division, also put on a strong performance, showing the competitive drive and work ethic that continue to elevate our team.

“We also want to highlight Nahla Ndiaye and Stian Du Preez, who stepped into their very first tournaments as grey belts.

“Nahla competed in the 75lbs division and Stian in the 65lbs division, and both displayed impressive skill, confidence, and heart.

“Their performances reflect the hard work they’ve put in and signal incredibly bright futures in the competition scene.

“This event was more than just a tournament – it was a statement about the strength of our programme, the dedication of our athletes, and the supportive culture that drives our success.”
