Arch Reinsurance Sponsors Luminaria Ceremony
Relay For Life of Bermuda has announced Arch Reinsurance Ltd as the Luminaria Ceremony sponsor for the 2026 event on May 8 at the National Sports Centre.
A spokesperson said, “Relay For Life of Bermuda is pleased to welcome Arch Reinsurance Ltd as the Luminaria Ceremony Sponsor for the 2026 event. Held annually during Relay, the Luminaria Ceremony is a powerful tribute of remembrance and hope. It is a time to grieve for those we have lost, to reflect on our own or a loved one’s cancer experience, and to find hope that tomorrow holds the promise of a cancer-free world.
“This year’s Luminaria Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026 at 9:00 pm at the North Field, National Sports Centre, as part of the Relay For Life event taking place May 8–9, 2026.”

A spokesperson added, “After the excitement of Relay For Life kicks off and darkness sets in on the field, everyone in attendance shares an emotional moment as each Luminaria is lit around the track in remembrance of lives touched by cancer.
“Team activities and fundraisers pause, children stop playing, and the walking track glows with hundreds of luminaria bags lovingly decorated with drawings, dedications, and names. During this time, survivors, participants, and attendees walk the track together in silence, taking in the personal and powerful messages displayed on each bag.
“No matter where you are in the world, you can show your support for a survivor, honour someone no longer with us, or share a message of hope by purchasing a Luminaria bag to be displayed on the field.
“Bags can be purchased online at www.bermudarelay.bm, or from participating teams for a minimum donation of $10.
“At the time of purchase, you may choose to take your bag and decorate it yourself or have Relay volunteers decorate it on your behalf with your personal message. Bags must be returned to Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre on Point Finger Road no later than Wednesday, May 6, 2026 by 4:00 pm, or directly to North Field on Friday, May 8th between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm at the Arch Bermuda Luminaria Tent.
“At the field, dozens of volunteers will carefully place hundreds of luminarias around the track at the National Sports Centre, creating what promises to be a beautiful and inspiring ceremony. The bags will remain illuminated until dawn.
“When a luminaria bag is purchased, the donation supports Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s mission to serve the community by building healthier lives free of cancer and disease. 97% of the funds raised during Relay For Life, including Luminaria sales, supports the Equal Access Fund, which subsidises the cost of life-saving cancer screenings and radiation therapy for those who would otherwise be unable to afford care. The remaining 3% supports the American Cancer Society’s Global Cancer Control initiatives.
“It is through the generosity of sponsors like Arch Bermuda that event production costs are covered, ensuring that the majority of funds raised go directly to individuals and families in Bermuda who need care.
