WRC To Host Women’s History Month Events
The Women’s Resource Centre is celebrating Women’s History Month with a sold-out March 6 breakfast and the HERstory Festival on March 28 under the theme “Give to Gain.”
A spokesperson said, “March marks Women’s History Month, a time to honour the achievements, resilience, and leadership of women throughout history and within our own community. The Women’s Resource Centre [WRC] is proud to observe the month with two meaningful initiatives that celebrate women’s stories while reinforcing the organisation’s mission to advance the rights, equity, and wellbeing of women in Bermuda.
“WRC will officially launch its Women’s History Month observance with its annual International Women’s Day Celebration on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 8:00am to 11:00am at the Pier 6 Complex on Front Street in Hamilton. This morning breakfast event is now completely sold out, reflecting strong community support and engagement.
“This year’s theme, Give to Gain, explores the power of collective investment, reciprocity, and community impact. The event will feature a thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by Christie Hunter-Arscott, with panellists Denise Carey, Dr. Nicola Paugh, and Dr. Tiffanne Thomas. Together, they will examine how women’s leadership, intentional giving, and collaboration strengthen communities and drive sustainable change. Proceeds from the celebration directly support WRC’s 2026 programmes and services.
“Women’s History Month will culminate on Saturday, March 28, with the second annual HERstory Festival, taking place along Water Street in the historic Town of St. George’s. The Arcades — a vibrant collection of female-owned businesses — will serve as the central hub of the festival.
“Curated by local storyteller and cultural curator Kristin White, the HERstory Festival is generously sponsored by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC]. This free, family-friendly community event celebrates women’s stories, leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurship while fostering connection and economic empowerment.”
“We are excited to host the HERstory Festival for a second year,” said Juanae Crockwell, Women’s Resource Centre Executive Director. “This festival is the embodiment of our mission and our work to ensure that women have safe spaces to exist fully and safely and to celebrate the incredible value we bring to our community.”
The spokesperson said, “The day will feature performances by local artists, author readings, free history tours of the town, and a dynamic “She Made History” panel discussion highlighting the impact of women past and present. The Eastern Economic Empowerment Zone will host a special entrepreneurship workshop designed to spotlight female entrepreneurs in Bermuda and provide practical information, guidance, and support for women interested in starting or expanding their businesses.
“While March provides a dedicated opportunity for celebration, WRC’s work continues year-round. The organisation provides therapeutic services, including individual counselling and peer support groups, along with case management support, community education opportunities, and advocacy initiatives designed to advance equity and improve outcomes for women across Bermuda.
“In the 2025 fiscal year, WRC delivered 529 hours of counselling support to 97 women at no cost to the client. The Centre also hosted four quarterly legal clinics, three community birthing class series, and ten community education workshops. These services reflect WRC’s ongoing commitment to creating accessible pathways to support, connection, and stability for women at every stage of life.
“As part of its commitment to long-term sustainability, WRC is also promoting its new monthly giving initiative, the WRC Circle, which invites women and allies to commit to a monthly donation of $30, or an annual contribution of $360. The initiative offers a tangible way for members of the community to invest in the stability and continued impact of WRC’s services.”
“Women’s History Month is not only about reflecting on how far we have come,” Ms. Crockwell added. “It is also about recognising the power of collective support and intentional investment in the wellbeing of women today. When we give to one another, we all gain.”
