Governor Andrew Murdoch opened the conference stating that “Bermuda remains an active and innovative contributor to global genomics. Local organisations such as CariGenetics, and international partners like the Wellcome Sanger Institute and Nvidia, supporting Bermuda’s new Bioinformatics Centre of Excellence. The work on this beautiful archipelago shows that innovation, leadership and collaborations can take place anywhere. It needs talent, passion and imagination- and this island has that. I look forward to meeting the next generation of Bermudian scientists and data specialists.”

A spokesperson added, “In addition to its scientific and strategic significance, the conference also delivered meaningful value for Bermuda’s visitor economy. The estimated economic impact of the event is $350K, reflecting spending across accommodation, hospitality, transportation, and related services.

“Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing a strong desire to return to Bermuda for future editions of the conference.
