Orange Route Ferry Service Suspended
The Department of Marine and Ports Services has advised that ferry service on the Orange Route has been suspended today [May 14] due to inclement weather “until conditions improve.”
A Government spokesperson said, “Due to inclement weather today, the Department of Marine and Ports Services has suspended the Orange Route [Royal Naval Dockyard to St George’s] until conditions improve.”

And the alternative transportation assembled by the Government to help people get to and from work is???? Are those electric buses still having problems when they get too wet?
Come on. Is there no plan for such things?
Awfully quiet, good or bad, about the performance of those E buses. Government is usually quick to praise themselves on the rare occasion when something is working out good. Very very quiet when things are going south.
As a frequent ferry user, I must say that I do have one HUGE problem with the Ferry Service. Firstly, I enjoy the convenience of riding the ferry into Hamilton rather than riding my bike as it is fast and convenient. The staff are really helpful and kind. My problem is that the Ferry Service will sometimes SURPRISE riders that put their motor bikes on the ferry and who rely on the ferry to get to work on time by bringing the ferry that CAN’T TAKE BIKES on it WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. ITS A VERY VERY NASTY SURPRISE to ride out to Dockyard at 8am only to be told by staff that they are using a ferry that DOES NOT take bikes. It’s a HUGE DISSERVICE, IT’S UNFAIR and an INCONVENIENCE to ALL BIKE RIDERS to have to turn around at 8am in Dockyard to have to ride all the way into Hamilton to make time to work. The SAD part is that there is NO NOTICE ON Marine and Ports WEBSITE OR on the online FERRY SCHEDULE TO LET RIDERS KNOW THE DAYS that BIKE RIDERS WON’T be able to bring they’re bike on the ferry.IT SHOULD NEVER BE A SURPRISE or a HIT OR MISS like it is now. Riders are not psychics and shouldn’t have to play the guessing game. This is a shame, TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE in 2026.Communication and transparency is key in this situation and is surely lacking on the behalf of Marine and Ports. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP! Speaking for ALL bike riders coming out of Dockyard on the ferry in the Morning.
