LOM Financial announced the launch of its World Oceans Day Student Art Competition, inviting young artists across Bermuda to showcase their creativity while highlighting the importance of ocean conservation.

A spokesperson said, “Open to students aged 6 and up, the competition encourages participants to create artwork inspired by Bermuda’s ocean and why it matters for future generations. Winning pieces will be showcased on the windows of LOM’s Reid Street office in Hamilton, giving students the chance to share their work with the wider community.

“The competition is being held in partnership with the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, which will oversee judging. Four winners will receive a sponsored place in the Masterworks After School Programme, helping them continue to develop their artistic skills.

“This initiative is part of LOM Financial’s ongoing commitment to ocean conservation, a key focus of its broader social responsibility efforts. The company is dedicated to supporting organisations and initiatives in the jurisdictions that they operate: Bermuda, Bahamas, Cayman and the UK. Over the years, LOM has supported several local nonprofits, including the BZS Trunk Island project, The Bermuda Whale Project, Waterstart and most recently the Sargasso Sea Commission.”

Kristen Halbert, Global Head of Marketing at LOM Financial, added, “At LOM, we support programmes that advance ocean health, research, and education. This competition is a natural extension of that commitment, giving students a chance to explore Bermuda’s ocean through creativity and, hopefully, gain a deeper appreciation for why it matters and the role we all play in protecting it.”

A spokesperson added, “Entry forms can be collected from the LOM Financial Reception, Ground Floor, 27 Reid Street, Hamilton or downloaded from the LOM website at https://www.lom.com/lom-launches-student-art-competition-to-celebrate-world-oceans-day/. Students can submit their artwork along with a completed entry form to the LOM Reception by Wednesday, May 27th.” LOM World Oceans Day Competition Entry Form [PDF].
