Jessica Lewis Claims Victory In 100 Metres

Jessica Lewis has claimed victory in the T53 100 metres at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Notwil, Switzerland, today [May 23].

She posted a personal best time of 15.22sec, finishing ahead of Swiss athlete Catherine Debrunner [15.22] and Turkey’s Hamide Dogangun [15.90].

Lewis, whose time shattered her previous Pan American record, was just outside the world record [15.20].

“15.22 in the 100m today!!!!!,” Lewis wrote on social media.

“Just outside of the World Record of 15.20! What an incredible race with Catherine Debrunner with the win coming down to 0.002 of a second!!

“Thank you for pushing me to get faster Catherine. You’re an incredible athlete and person. Seven races in Switzerland with seven personal best times. I am so proud of myself and grateful for the amazing coaches, support team, team-mates and sponsor (Arch Capital Group]. I have surrounding me that have kept believing in my potential with me.”

Lewis came second in the 200 and third in the 400 in Switzerland.
