Swing Bridge Traffic Detour Installation Begins
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment reminded the motoring public that” installation of the Swing Bridge pre-construction detour route in St. George’s will begin today, Monday, 25 May 2026, and is scheduled to continue through Monday, 7 September 2026.”
A Government spokesperson said, “The works are required to facilitate the staging area for the construction of the new Swing Bridge. The detour route will be constructed in phases, with multiple running road closures affecting areas near the existing roundabout, Kindley Field Park, St. David’s Road and Carters Bay Road.
“Working hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The scheduled dates are tentative and may vary due to weather or other operational concerns.
“Traffic controls will be managed by Ministry representatives with barricades, cones and stop-and-go personnel in place. Motorists are advised to travel carefully through the phased detour routes and follow all posted signage and directions.
“The Ministry encourages the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologises for any inconvenience that may arise.”
