Temporary Traffic Changes In Swing Bridge Area
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment advised that “temporary traffic changes will be introduced around Swing Bridge and Kindley Field Road from the end of August to support construction of the new Swing Bridge.”
A Government spokesperson said, “The changes will affect how vehicles enter and exit the St. David’s area, with traffic redirected through Kindley Field Park during different stages of the works. Temporary changes will also be made to bus routes and bus stop locations.”
Minister of Public Works and Environment Jaché Adams said: “These temporary traffic changes are necessary to allow work on the new Swing Bridge to progress while maintaining access to St. David’s.
“We recognise that changes to daily travel routines can be disruptive, and we thank residents, businesses and the travelling public for their patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project moves forward.”
A Government spokesperson added, “As part of the works, the existing roundabout near Swing Bridge will be replaced with a temporary mini-roundabout. Initially, the existing Gate Number One bus lane will be used for westbound traffic. St. David’s Road will operate one-way into St. David’s, while vehicles leaving the area will travel through Kindley Field Park via Southside Road.
“The Gate Number One bus stop will temporarily move along the Kindley Field wall. As construction progresses, all traffic entering and leaving St. David’s, including buses, will use Gate Number One and Kindley Field Park. The bus stop will then move to the new turnaround area within the park.
“Due to turning restrictions, some large tractor-trailers will need to use Waller’s Point Road and Southside Road as an alternative route.
“Construction is expected to begin at the end of August and continue through mid-September, weather permitting. Additional traffic advisories, route maps and video updates will be issued before each change takes effect.”
