Man Arrested For Impaired Driving, Knife & More
A 24-year-old man was taken into custody following a traffic stop in which police said he was riding a motorcycle with expired licence and insurance, appeared impaired, and a “subsequent search led to the recovery of a knife which he had in his possession.”
A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, Police officers were on mobile patrol when they had cause to stop a motorcycle traveling east along Somerset Road.
“A check of the vehicle revealed that its license and insurance had expired. Whilst speaking with the bike rider, a 24-year-old male, officers observed he showed signs of impairment.
“The male was then arrested for driving while impaired. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a knife which he had in his possession.
“The subject was further arrested for possession of a bladed article. He was transferred to the Hamilton Police Station where he remains in custody, pending a court appearance early next week.
“As a reminder, increased high visibility policing operations remain in effect.”
