Phillips Competes At M15 Kayseri Tournament
Bermudian tennis player Daniel Phillips and partner Dinko Dinev of Bulgaria were eliminated from the M15 Kayseri tournament after a three-set loss in the doubles quarter-finals.
Following a straight-sets victory in the opening round, the 21-year-old Phillips and Dinev faced Keshav Chopra of the United States and Stefan Cooper of Great Britain on the Turkish hard courts. Chopra and Cooper won the match 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 to advance to the semi-finals.
Chopra and Cooper broke the serve of Phillips and Dinev twice in the first set to win 6-2. Phillips and Dinev responded in the second set, breaking their opponents’ serve to win 3-6 and force a deciding 10-point match tie-break.
In the tie-break, Chopra and Cooper secured a mini-break to win 10-7 and close out the match.
