DeSilva-Andrade Qualifies For World Boccia
Yushae DeSilva-Andrade has qualified for Seoul 2026 World Boccia Championships in the Individual BC1 category.
A spokesperson said, “Boccia Bermuda is proud to announce and extend its heartfelt congratulations to Yushae DeSilva-Andrade on her qualification for the Seoul 2026 World Boccia Championships in the Individual BC1 category.”
Ms. DeSilva-Andrade stated, “I’m so thrilled to have qualified for the World Championships in Seoul, South Korea, this summer! All the effort and commitment have paid off, and I’m really looking forward to what this adventure holds. It’s my fifth World Championship, and it’s a significant step on my journey to the LA 2028 Paralympic Games. I would like to thank all of my supporters, and especially Boccia Bermuda, the Bermuda Paralympic Association, and my amazing team led by Coach Larry Hunt.”
The spokesperson said, “World Boccia recently announced the BC3 Pair, BC4 Pair, BC1/BC2 Team, and Individual athletes who have qualified for the prestigious championships, which will be held in Seoul, South Korea, in 2026. Yushae’s qualification is a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and outstanding performances on the international stage.
“The World Boccia Competition Committee followed the approved qualification criteria for the World Championships when making its selections. Under the qualification system, each country was limited to a maximum of ten (10) athletes. Countries could qualify up to seven athletes through Team and Pair events, plus up to three additional athletes through individual qualification slots.”
A Boccia Bermuda spokesperson said, “Yushae’s achievement reflects not only her individual excellence but also the continued growth and success of boccia in Bermuda. Her qualification places her among the world’s elite boccia athletes and provides another opportunity to proudly represent Bermuda on the international stage.”
