Bermuda Teams Continue ECVA Championships
Olivia Gazzard and Isabella Sousa advanced to the semifinals of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Under-20 Beach Volleyball Championships in St. Kitts.
Gazzard and Sousa defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines pair Nayelli Fergus and Reanna Robinson 2-0 in the quarterfinals, winning 21-19 and 21-15.
The result extended the Bermudian pair’s undefeated run to four matches at the tournament.
In the men’s competition, Daniel Morris and Carter Lamb played three matches, beginning with British Virgin Islands pair Alexander Wheatley and Macmonte Fahie.
Morris and Lamb lost 2-1, dropping the opening set 18-21 before winning the second 21-17. Wheatley and Fahie claimed the deciding set 15-9.
The Bermudians then defeated another British Virgin Islands pair, Carl Miranda-Gaskin and Kristian Young.
ECVA’s social media results listed the set scores as 21-10 and 21-0, while the official tournament page recorded the contest as a forfeit by Miranda-Gaskin and Young.
Morris and Lamb concluded the day with a 2-0 victory over Anguilla’s Shayelle Allwaters and Jahvie Hamilton, winning 21-19 and 21-15.
