The Bermuda women’s national team claimed an impressive 1-0 win over Jamaica in group B at the Field Hockey Stadium in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, at the Central American and Caribbean Games yesterday [July 28].

Chrysda Smith scored the winning goal.

Elsewhere at the CAC Games, swimmer Elan Daley finished sixth in the women’s 50 metres freestyle A final in 25.91sec.

Her team-mate Madelyn Moore won the women’s 50 freestyle B final in 26.17.

In the men’s 200 individual medley B final, Elijah Daley won in 2:05.70, with Sam Williamson second in 2:07.40.

Meanwhile, bowlers David Maycock and Levinc Samuels finished seventh in the men’s doubles match group one with 2,613 pins at the Sebelen Bowling Centre.

In the men’s doubles group match two, Anthony Hayward and Lamar Richardson finished sixteenth [2,496], while Dennis Joell and Shannon Lee came eighteenth [2,143].

At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Caitlyn Bobb finished sixth in her women’s 400 metres heat in 54.94 to qualify for the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Nirobi Smith-Mills placed seventh in the men’s 800 metres heats in 1:59.71.

Sakari Famous finished ninth in the women’s high jump final after clearing 1.77 metres at the Scotstoun Stadium.

In swimming, Jack Harvey finished fifth in his semi-final in the men’s 100 metres backstroke at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Harvey finished in a time of 55.04.
