Bermuda Athletes Win 7 Major Games Medals
Bermuda’s athletes delivered an impressive series of performances on the international stage, winning seven medals during the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games and Commonwealth Games.
The island’s contingent captured six medals at the CAC Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — one gold, one silver and four bronze — while Jessica Lewis added a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Adriana Penruddocke led Bermuda’s CAC Games medal haul by winning gold in the women’s sailing competition. She finished the ten-race series with 14 net points, four fewer than silver medal winner Elena Oetling Ramirez of Mexico.
Sebastian Kempe completed an outstanding sailing showing for Bermuda by securing bronze in the men’s competition. Kempe finished the ten-race series with 25 net points, behind gold medal winner Pedro Luis Fernandez Gamboa of Puerto Rico and silver medalist Luc Franck Leo Chevrier of Saint Lucia.
Swimmer Jack Harvey earned two medals in the pool, becoming Bermuda’s first medal winner of the CAC Games when he claimed bronze in the men’s 50 metres backstroke in 25.33 seconds.
Harvey returned to capture silver in the men’s 100 metres backstroke, touching the wall in 54.56 seconds and completing an excellent two-medal campaign.
Tyler Smith earned bronze in the men’s triathlon, finishing the event in 1hr 46min 21sec.
Sakari Famous completed Bermuda’s CAC Games medal tally by winning bronze in the women’s high jump while setting a new national record. Famous cleared 1.89 metres to set a new Bermuda record.
At the Commonwealth Games, Jessica Lewis made history by winning bronze in the women’s T54 400 metres. The four-time Paralympian finished third in 59.31 seconds, becoming Bermuda’s first Commonwealth Games para-athletics medalist.
With seven medals earned across swimming, sailing, triathlon and athletics, Bermuda’s athletes produced an excellent showing across the two major international competitions.
