Cannonier, Minors Earn Polaris Education Award
Polaris Holding Company Ltd. has announced Ayr Cannonier and Zanna Minors as the recipients of its 2026 Education Award.
A spokesperson said, “Polaris Holding Company Ltd. is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Polaris Holding Company Ltd. Education Award [PHCLEA]. Recipients of the PHCLEA, Ayr Cannonier and Zanna Minors are being recognised for their academic consistency and commitment to higher education.
“Presented annually to eligible children of employees of Polaris and its subsidiaries, the $2,500 cash award provides financial support for further education. During their educational journey, recipients may receive up to four awards, which they may apply to tuition, room and board or airfare.
“Returning for his third PHCLEA, Ayr Cannonier is entering his second year at the University of East London in the UK, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Economics. He used his first PHCLEA to complete the International Baccalaureate programme at the United World College East Africa in Tanzania, where he focused on Economics and Business. Ayr is the son of Mr. Ankoma Cannonier, a Deckman at Stevedoring Services Limited.
“Currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Hospitality and Management at Bermuda College, Zanna Minors is receiving the PHCLEA for the first time. During her first year of study, she achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.99. Zanna is the daughter of Mr. Otis Minors, the Superintendent at Stevedoring Services Limited.”
Reflecting on the education awards, Polaris Chairwoman Cheryl Hayward-Chew stated, “Each year, we are honoured to support our team by providing these awards to their children. Our team works incredibly hard to provide essential services to Bermuda while simultaneously providing for their families. We’re happy to provide this support to our team’s families as well, and wish Ayr and Zanna all the best in the upcoming year.”
