Male Injured In Two Vehicle Collision In Smith’s
[Updated] A male motorcycle rider was taken to hospital following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on North Shore Road this evening [Aug 16].
A police spokesperson said, “Police and other first responders have been dispatched to a report of a potentially serious road traffic collision on North Shore Road, in the vicinity of Tamarisk Hill, Smith’s.
“Initial information suggests that a car and a motorcycle travelling in opposite directions were involved in a collision.
“The male motorcycle rider is believed to have sustained a possible head injury and has been transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the scene is now being forensically examined.
“Traffic diversions are currently in place at Store Hill and Jennings Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.”
Update Aug 17, 5.40pm: A police spokesperson said, “At last check, the motorcyclist injured in this collision, said to be a 56-year-old Smith’s parish man, was understood to be in stable condition, in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. Apparently the car driver was unhurt.
“Inquiries continue regarding the circumstances of this collision and any witnesses are encouraged to call 211, as soon as possible.”
