Cardwell And Toronto Draw 0-0 With Waterloo
Bermudian Lauren Cardwell and the University of Toronto Varsity Blues played to a 0-0 draw against the Waterloo Warriors in an Ontario University Athletics [OUA] match at Back Campus Fields.
Toronto controlled much of the opening quarter, using passing and pressure to disrupt Waterloo’s build-up. First-year midfielder Maddy Kim helped Toronto regain possession in midfield, while second-year goalkeeper Marry Yang made a save when Waterloo reached the home circle.
Waterloo increased its attacking pressure in the second quarter, but Kim made several defensive interventions to prevent the Warriors from creating a scoring opportunity before halftime.
Waterloo created its best chance after the restart, but second-year defender Danielle D’Silva made a goal-saving block to keep the match scoreless.
Toronto then created several opportunities, with fourth-year captain Maggie Mullins helping move the ball from defence into attack.
The Blues continued to pressure the Waterloo circle late in the match, but neither team scored as Cardwell and Toronto finished with a 0-0 draw.
