Fairmont To Hold Job Application Support Days

September 23, 2026 | 1 Comment

Fairmont Southampton and the Department of Workforce Development will host Digital Application Support Days on September 28 and 29 at the Bermuda College, offering free assistance to candidates applying for jobs ahead of the resort’s reopening, with the company previously announcing that there are more than 500 jobs available.

A spokesperson said, “Fairmont Southampton today announced the Digital Application Support Day Initiative, a new partnership with Bermuda’s Department of Workforce Development designed to help Bermudians take the next step toward a career at the resort. The two-day event will offer free, hands-on support to candidates who have not yet applied online, guiding them through every stage of the process as Fairmont Southampton continues to build the team behind its full reopening.

“The event follows the recent launch of Fairmont Southampton’s historic recruitment campaign, which opened more than 500 opportunities across nine departments as the resort continues building toward a team of approximately 700 colleagues.

“The initiative is aimed squarely at removing the barriers that can stand between a prospective colleague and an application – from limited computer access to unfamiliarity with online hiring platforms. Trained support staff from Fairmont Southampton and Workforce Development will be on hand throughout both days to help candidates with:

  • Registering on Bermuda Job Connect
  • Learning about available opportunities at Fairmont Southampton
  • Completing online applications
  • Uploading required documents
  • Completing online assessments
  • Receiving guidance and support throughout the application process

A Partnership Built Around Access

“This initiative is about meeting people at whatever stage they’re at in their job search,” said Donna Harvey-Maybury, Director of People & Culture. “Whether someone has never used an online application system before or has simply been meaning to get their documents together, our goal with Workforce Development is to put the tools and the support directly in front of them, so no one who wants to be part of Fairmont Southampton’s return is held back by the process.”

“Creating meaningful employment opportunities is only part of the work; we must also ensure that Bermudians have the support they need to access those opportunities,” said Minister of Economy and Labour, Jason Hayward.

“The Government has mandated that at least 50 per cent of the positions available through this recruitment initiative must be filled by Bermudians, and this partnership between the Department of Workforce Development and Fairmont Southampton is a practical way of helping Bermudians take advantage of those opportunities. By providing hands-on assistance with registration, applications and the recruitment process, we are helping remove barriers and make it easier for Bermudians to take the next step towards employment. I encourage anyone interested in joining the Fairmont Southampton team to take advantage of this support and explore the opportunities available.”

Event Details

  • Fairmont Southampton Digital Application Support Days
    • 1. Monday, September 28, 2026 | 10 AM – 7 PM
    • 2. Tuesday, September 29, 2026 | 8 AM – 11 AM
  • Location: Department of Workforce Development Training Facility [Bermuda College, West Hall, 21 Stonington Avenue, Paget, PG04]

The spokesperson said, “The event is designed specifically for prospective candidates who would benefit from in-person support completing their online application – operating on a walk-in basis, with no appointment or pre-registration required. Workforce Development is providing the training space and computer stations, with Fairmont Southampton supplementing with additional laptops so every candidate has access to a device.

“Members of both teams will be on-site to provide one-on-one assistance with registration, applications, document uploads and online assessments. Candidates are welcome to attend at any point during the scheduled hours. Light refreshments will be available on-site across both days.

What to Bring

“Candidates are encouraged to bring a copy of their CV, either printed or electronic, to help support staff complete their profile and application. Candidates should also come prepared with access to their email account, as an email address is required to complete the application and register on Bermuda Job Connect, and will be used to send confirmation of submission, next steps and any updates on assessments or application status.”

“We’ve built the schedule around real life,” said Sarai Belboda, Director of Talent & Acquisition. “Extending hours into the evening on the first day and opening early on the second means candidates who are working another job, or juggling family and childcare, can still walk in, sit down with one of our team, and leave with a completed application – not just a stack of instructions to finish on their own later.”

The spokesperson said, “Those who are comfortable completing the application process independently are encouraged to explore current opportunities and apply online at careers.accor.com or FairmontSouthamptonBermuda.com.

Thank you very much to the organizers for the forward‑thinking approach and for facilitating this much‑needed event.

May I offer a small but meaningful suggestion:
Kindly consider inviting three Bermuda College students who are currently pursuing studies in Information Technology to volunteer two hours of their time to assist participants — especially those in vocational areas — with setting up iCloud or Gmail accounts.

Many individuals own a mobile phone but not a laptop or desktop, and this added support would make access and setup much easier for them.
