Filipinos In Bermuda To Hold Prayer Vigil
The Association of Filipinos in Bermuda [AFB] is inviting the Filipino community and the wider public to join a Community Prayer Vigil on November 1 to remember those who have recently passed away and offer prayers and support to their grieving families.
The vigil follows the deaths of two members of Bermuda’s Filipino community in tragic incidents this month, 57-year-old Antonieta Pascua died after being struck by a car on Cedar Avenue, while 42-year-old Ryan Cortez died following injuries sustained in a reported chicken culling incident.
In a post on their social media account, the organization said, “In times of sorrow, we come together in faith, compassion, and hope. In light of the recent untimely passing of our fellow kababayans, the Association of Filipinos in Bermuda [AFB] invites the Filipino community, our friends, and everyone across Bermuda to join us for a Community Prayer Vigil.
- When: Sunday, November 1, 2026
- Time: 6:30PM onwards
- Venue: City of Hamilton [exact venue to be announced]
“Together, let us remember the lives we have lost and lift in prayer their bereaved families and friends, as well as everyone across our island who has been deeply affected by these sudden and heartbreaking losses.
“May we find comfort in God’s presence, strength in our unity, and peace in His unfailing love as we stand together in prayer, support, healing, and hope.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
“P.S. Please bring a candle and matches, as well as your own chair.
“This gathering is open to everyone. In moments of grief, may our presence remind one another that no family and no community has to mourn alone. Let us come together as one community, one Bermuda, united in prayer.”
