Bermuda Harness Pony Racing Season Begins
The 2026-27 Harness Pony Racing season began at the National Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street in Bermuda with competition across multiple time bar classes.
In the 1:07.0 to 1:09.0 Time Bar Class, Mitch Robinson and Candyce Martins featured in two close finishes. Robinson, driving Kool the Fire, won Heat Two in 1:18.4, edging Martins and Victoria’s Secret, who posted the same time. Martins and Victoria’s Secret won Heat Nine in 1:14.4, with Robinson and Kool the Fire finishing second in the same time.
In the 1:04.0 and Faster Time Bar Class, Kirista Rabain drove Red October to victory in Heat One with the night’s fastest time of 1:05.3. Martins finished second with Smart Machine in 1:05.4, while Maurice Raynor took third with Rockeyed Optimist in 1:06.2.
Martins and Smart Machine took top spot in Heat Eight with a time of 1:08.1. Raynor and Rockeyed Optimist finished second in 1:08.2, ahead of Rabain and Red October, who placed third with the same clocking of 1:08.2.
Tahzii Flood guided Double Time to victory in Heat 12 of the 1:04.0 and Faster division in 1:07.3. Rabain and Gold Rush placed second in 1:08.0, matching the time of third-place finishers Teshi Zuill and SomeGoldSomeWhere.
