Hemp Named Bangladesh Women’s Head Coach
Former Bermuda captain David Hemp has been appointed head coach of Bangladesh’s women’s national cricket team on a two-year contract running until September 2028.
The 55-year-old will join the squad in Brisbane ahead of their upcoming One-Day International series against Australia. He succeeds Sarwar Imran, who had held the role since February 2025.
Hemp joined the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] in May 2023 as head coach of its High Performance programme. He worked with the men’s team during their 2023 tour of New Zealand before being appointed batting coach in 2024.
He also served as batting coach for Bangladesh’s women during the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan and the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal.
His previous coaching roles include leading Pakistan’s women’s national team from 2020 to 2022, Victoria’s women’s team and the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League.
