One Year Later: Murder Victim’s Family Tribute

May 22, 2010 · 2 Comments

The family of Kenwandee “Wheels” Robinson, who was fatally shot exactly one year ago, have set up a tribute to him gathering to reminisce about the man taken from them one year ago today.

27-year-old Mr. Robinson was shot by two men on a bike on St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke, and was pronounced dead at King Edward Memorial Hospital later that evening. Mr. Robinson was a father of a young son, La’Naiye Simmons, now three years old.

At the time of his unfortunate death, Mr Robinson resided in Paget with his son and his son’s mother Laneh Simmons, but was visiting friends. His friend, Mikey Adams, was also shot in the incident, but survived his injuries.

The tribute includes a large photo of Mr Robinson, fresh flowers, candles and incense. Mr Robinson’s aunt, Patrice Robinson, says “he will be her baby forever”, and is pictured below alongside the tribute:

The family and friends of Mr Robinson were talking and remembering the good times they had with him, speaking widely of his kindness, cheer, and good nature. They were obviously both angered and upset that on this very day, there appears to have been another gun related incident right in the same spot, when they wanted, most of all, to remember their lost one.

The investigation into Mr. Robinson’s murder is still ongoing, and anyone with information regarding  is urged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299 8115, or send an anonymous tip via the confidential CrimeStoppers hotline on 1 800 623 8477, or online via crimestoppers.bm. There is a $100,000 reward offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of this, and other unsolved murders.

This glorifying stuff has to cease. I feel for people and emotions but it has become once again a cultural thing that needs bridging.

Reflect on all recent deaths and injuries that are in your area.

Not a soul is there under or near any banner to be asked ‘why’ they did it.

I wish the families well. I hope they can recover from this madness

Ps. If I made spelling mistakes, the message is still the same.
