Igor: Bank To Close & Films Cancelled

As many likely anticipated, announcements are starting to come in of cancellations due to the possible arrival of Hurricane Igor this weekend.

The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited today [Sept 15] announced that “due to the approach and potential impact of Hurricane Igor over the weekend, in-branch banking and drive-thru banking services will not be available on Saturday, 18 September 2010.”

Whilw Butterfield’s internet and telephone banking services as well as many ATMS will be available as usual, Butterfield wishes to advise customers “that, to prevent damage, certain ATMs that are exposed to the elements will be taken out of service intentionally starting on Saturday.”

The statement said the Bank regrets any inconvenience these measures may cause. Complete information about the impact of the storm on Butterfield’s services will be available on the Bank’s website.

In addition, the ‘Weekend Film Series’ scheduled to be held this weekend has been postponed.

The statement said that due to the “Unexpected arrival of Hurricane Igor in Bermuda this weekend has resulted in the postponement of the ‘Weekend Film Series’, which was set to debut on Sunday September 19.The gentle Italian comedy Mid-August Lunch, and the award-winning documentary film The Oath, will now screen at the BUEI on Sunday September 26, at 3 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. respectively. Tickets already purchased for the screenings will be honoured on the new date.”

Update 3pm: JetBlue airlines said “Due to impending weather from Hurricane Igor, JetBlue is allowing customers the option to voluntarily rebook their travel without incurring change fees or fare differences. Customers traveling in/out of Bermuda (BDA) between September 18, 2010 and September 19, 2010 may move to a new flight between the same cities, that depart anytime between now and September 22, 2010. Original travel must have been booked on or before September 15, 2010. Changes must be made prior to your originally scheduled departure.”
