Premier Cancels Trip Due to Hurricane Igor

September 15, 2010

Premier Dr Ewart Brown has today [Sept 15] cancelled his upcoming trip on government business to Washington DC, citing concerns regarding Hurricane Igor.

The Premier said, “Over the next few days, I had planned to attend the signing of the Howard University and Bermuda Collaboration Agreement and the events associated with the Congressional Black Caucus weekend in Washington DC. In light of the potential threat posed by Hurricane Igor, I have decided to cancel this trip.”

The Premier added, “Our government is monitoring Hurricane Igor closely and intends to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our people.”

It was announced earlier that the National Cricket Squad would cancel their last two matches and return early from their Canadian tour, Butterfield Bank would close on Saturday, and that the Weekend Film Festival was postponed.

The powerful category 4 hurricane is carrying winds of 135mph, and is over 500 miles wide. The Bermuda Weather Service’s latest update said that “it appears the hurricane will pass near to our east early Sunday evening, bringing hurricane force winds for a time Sunday afternoon/evening.”

Good Idea; what with all the inevitable reconstruction construction contracts, it’s vitally important that people of integrity such as the Premier and Zane are here to make sure that the work is fairly awarded.

Are you serious!! If he did not cancel his trip he is not in touch with his people.
