Supplies & Equipment: Digicel To Fly in Private Jet

September 16, 2010

Telecommunications company Digicel Bermuda is in a heightened state of readiness as Hurricane Igor approaches and said “a private jet equipped with emergency supplies, vital telecommunications equipment and expert riggers is due to land in Bermuda tomorrow. The private jet will remain available to Digicel Bermuda in the event that more human and capital resources are required from overseas.”

The company notes that it has once again activated its comprehensive Hurricane Preparedness Plan which seeks to protect the interests of its customers, staff and dealers.

Wayne Caines, CEO, Digicel Bermuda says, “It’s all about ensuring our customers can stay connected to family and friends. We take that responsibility very seriously. As such, we have generators installed in the vast majority of our cell sites across the island and ample fuel supplies to meet our requirements.”

According to Mr. Caines, Digicel’s Crisis Management Team is closely monitoring Hurricane Igor, which is expected to impact Bermuda with winds in excess of 132 miles per hour. Plans are already in place to have several of Digicel’s technical team members on site during Hurricane Igor in order to ensure the continued high quality service to customers.

Says Mr. Caines, “We encourage everyone to make all the necessary preparations before Igor makes landfall and to stay safe as the storm passes through the island. Likewise, we would like to assure our valued customers that we are taking every measure to ensure that we provide the reliable means of communication that our customers rely on and that our customer care team will be available 24/7 as always to ensure our customers receive the very best service.”
