Blizzard Causes More Flight Cancellations

January 12, 2011

Aircraft_in_the_snow_WikiThe powerful winter blizzard which dumped heavy snow on New York City and New Jersey last night is continuing to lumber up the East Coast today (Jan. 12), causing the cancellation of Bermuda flights from Boston and Philadelphia.

Delta flights 560 and 561 between Bermuda and Boston and US Airways flights 1424 and 1425 to and from Philadelphia have been grounded. Other cancelled Bermuda flights include American Airlines 1443 and 1378 to New York and Continental Airlines 1660 and 1657 to Newark.

All flights in and out of Boston’s Logan Airport were delayed or cancelled today. New York’s LaGuardia Airport has cancelled 675 flights, Kennedy Airport 300 and Newark Liberty 440.

Philadelphia’s airport reported almost 250 cancelled outbound flights and 100 cancelled arrivals this morning but a spokesman said things should be back in full swing there by this afternoon.

The storm caused a slew of airline cancellations yesterday and grounded Delta’s Bermuda flight from Atlanta on Monday after causing chaos in the US southeast.
